Script imported incorrectly
If your script didn't import the way you expected, maybe the speaker names are off, a character is missing, the lines got jumbled, or the formatting didn't carry through. Don't worry. You can fix it right inside the app.
1. Edit the script directly
After importing, you can click "Edit" to adjust the script manually.
This lets you:
- Fix speaker labels
- Split or combine lines
- Remove extra spacing
- Tweak any other formatting issues
Editing is fast, and any changes you make will update instantly across your session.
2. Use the formatting guidelines
We recommend following our Script setup guide to know how to properly set up your script.
3. Quick fixes
Speaker names not recognized? Make sure they're in all caps, followed by a line e.g.
SARAH
(smiles)
Hello there
Stage directions showing up as dialogue? Wrap them in parentheses e.g.
Before:
SARAH
Enters the room
Hello there
After:
SARAH
(Enters the room)
Hello there
Extra line breaks? Remove unnecessary empty lines to tighten the flow. Each dialogue block should be separated by an empty line.
Pro tip
Even if your script isn't perfect on import, small adjustments go a long way. Once you've made edits, the voices will respond more naturally, and your scene will play out exactly as intended.
Can't run the scene
We need to identify the reason your scene doesn't start. There are 2 options:
- You don't see the initialising screen.
- You see the initialising screen, and then an error appears.
No initialisation screen
If you don't see the initialising screen, it's a formatting issue. Your script isn't correctly formatted. Please click on the "Edit" button in the top right hand corner.
Then format the scene according to the Script setup guide.
You see an error
If you see another error after the initialisation screen, please get in touch. This should not be happening and we need to investigate the root cause of it.
